Two features set these Breeches apart from modern-day men's trousers.
- The seat is full (blousooned). These Breeches were worn by physically active men - who cut trees, chopped wood, and rode horseback. The fullness of the breeches seat permitted them to do this comfortably.
- The Center Back Inset - let the waistband out to expand if the person ate too much food or gained weight.
